Eight Works of Authorship That Can Be Copyrighted

Did you know there are eight specific types of works eligible for copyright protection? On the eighth day of Christmas we thought we would share!

  1. Literary, musical, and dramatic works
  2. Pantomimes and choreographic works
  3. Pictorial, graphic, and sculptural works
  4. Sound recordings
  5. Motion pictures and other AV works
  6. Computer programs
  7. Compilations of works and derivative works
  8. Architectural works

Not that long ago churches primarily reproduced and used music, but today more innovation and creativity has resulted in churches using a variety of copyrighted materials. That’s the reason it’s so important for church leaders to have knowledge of the different types of works that can be copyrighted.

If you have any questions about what types of music licensing your church may need, simply e-mail us or give us a call at 877-394-5566.
